Your role in our team

  • A technical liaison between Witron and our customer, managing day to day tasks, prioritising and escalation of any issues to maintain high system availability
  • Playing a key role in ensuring efficient day to day operations and flows; ability to interpret data to identify trends and patterns
  • Working on customer logged tickets, working closely with the customer for clarification, requirement and understanding
  • Able to identify automated process flow issues and use tools to analyse data from different sources to identify root cause
  • Preparation of comprehensive shift handover reports; completing set daily checks including server checks, database backup duties, technical system checks and support the running of specialised SQL scripts

Ideal candidate profile

  • Competent in SQL and able to write and understand queries involving joins across multiple tables.  Ideally experienced with Oracle SQL and writing stored procedures in PL/SQL.  Knowledge of MySQL and PostgreSQL would be beneficial
  • Logical approach to problem solving; a process orientated thinker who can manage their own tasks and time.  Ability to work on multiple tasks with different priorities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to bridge the gap between those who are IT literate and those who are not 
  • Familiar with IT systems and infrastructure, network architecture principles, confident with Windows, Domains, Thin Clients and Clusters 
  • Experience and understanding of processes and working methods in a logistics / automated environment
  • Technical software support with an aptitude to investigate.  Debugging Visual Basic or SQL or C++ or PL/SQL with a view to maintaining, enhancing and developing

  • 1-2 years minimal experience as an electromechanical technician

  • Good mechanical maintenance and repair skills

  • Practical attitude and ability to learn new tasks
  • Excellent PC skills
  • Must be able to work at heights exceeding 20 meters
  • Must be able to work days, evenings and nights and weekends (After ramp up begins, preferred shifts will be assigned based on hire date and operational requirements)
  • Familiarity with AC up to 600/400/480 volt and DC up to 24 volts

Position Overview:

As an Automation Technician this role is in our Maintenance Team, and will be your responsible for troubleshooting and providing maintenance repairs to the cranes and other automated machinery within the automated facility.

Requirements:

  • Perform preventative maintenance and unplanned electrical and mechanical repairs
  • Electrically and mechanically maintain, troubleshoot, and repair automated equipment
  • Perform planned maintenance on automated cranes, conveyors, and specialty equipment
  • Proficiency in using basic hand and power tools to perform repairs
  • Complete electrical and mechanical root cause analysis, fault finding and diagnosis, as well as recovery and resolution
  • Analysis of component failures and single point of failure prevention and recurrences using system information
  • Establish and improve inspection methods and component or process improvements through continues improvement program
  • Read and understand electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and mechanical drawings
  • Responsible for system performance monitoring and operational status
  • Collaborate with other technicians on mechanical and electrical problems
  • Use Witron’s Computerized Management System for shift cross overs, tracking parts, and completing work orders
  • Understand and follow site specific protocols and escalation procedures
  • Perform maintenance as per structured maintenance schedule
  • Document and complete planned repairs and maintenance activities
  • Inspect, repair, and replace electrical and mechanical wear and spare parts inclusive of all set-ups and calibrations

Qualifications:

  • 2-3 year degree or diploma in Electromechanical Engineering technology or equivalent OR Red seal endorsement in
  • Electrical 442A/ 309A / 5th year Industrial Electrician apprentice OR Red Seal endorsement in Industrial Millwright or final year Industrial Millwright apprentice
  • Training or certification in PLC programming and troubleshooting
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in an industrial automation environment or manufacturing with both mechanical, electrical, and controls troubleshooting and repair including motors, gearboxes, chains, bearings, shafts, sprockets, gears, belts, etc.
  • Rigging and hoisting experience of loads up to 1 ton
  • Experienced and comfortable working with AC voltages up to 480V and controls voltage of 24V
  • Familiar and adaptability to the 5S system
  • Welding experience considered an asset
  • Physically able to lift 25kg unassisted, climb ladders and cranes, work at heights exceeding 20 meters, work in conditions of +5C to -25C
  • Flexibility in working hours between days, afternoons, and nights (including weekends)
