Health and Safety Specialist
Reporting to the National Health and Safety Manager, Canada, the Health & Safety Specialist will be responsible for ensuring that construction sites and WITRON projects across Canada are complying with all local, provincial and federal regulations as well as with WITRON’s vision for Health and Safety.

Primary Job Functions:
Ensures compliance with all federal, provincial and local regulations and standards involving safety, industrial hygiene and general workplace and fire safety.
Demonstrate leadership in health and safety on all Canadian projects and construction sites.
Represents the Company to various governmental agencies, compliance officers, commissions, construction unions, etc.
Actively promote a healthy workplace that is free from workplace violence and harassment.
Facilitate and be active in construction site safety meetings.
Ensure site committees fulfill their legal obligations.
Conduct site audits and develop reports on Health & Safety performance and tactical and strategic improvement planning.
Work directly with facility and construction site managers to implement and maintain health and safety procedures with respect to installation of the automation equipment and racking.
Working closely with mechanical and electrical trades who install automation equipment and racking.
Monitor, review and report monthly health and safety performance indicators/measures.
Other duties as assigned from time to time by the Company.
Qualifications:
Skills and Knowledge
Canadian Provincial Occupational Health and Safety Acts and Regulations, with specific knowledge of Ontario, Quebec, Alberta and British Columbia norms.
Over 5 years’ experience on large construction sites.
Advanced knowledge in electrical safety and machine safety including light curtains, sensors, devices and guards- a MUST.
At least 5 years' experience of Health and Safety work experience in the construction industry.
Some exposure in federal, provincial, and municipal H&S requirements and industry standards/best practices (i.e. acts, regulations, codes, standards, and case law).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to interact and influence effectively with all construction workers and unions.
Ability to drive a strong safety philosophy and implement programs designed to effectively change behavior and prevent injury.
Ability to learn and independently resolve a variety of difficult situations and problems using timely decision making.
Ability to travel nationally and internationally to various locations for training and exposure to Witron’s international construction sites.Valid driver’s license and passport with ability to travel internationally.

Fonctions principales du poste :
· Veiller à la conformité de tous les sites de construction et projets de WITRON au Canada avec les réglementations locales, provinciales et fédérales, ainsi qu'avec la vision de WITRON en matière de santé et sécurité.
· Faire preuve de leadership en matière de santé et sécurité sur tous les projets canadiens et les chantiers de construction.
· Représenter l'entreprise auprès de divers organismes gouvernementaux, inspecteurs de conformité, commissions, syndicats de la construction, etc.
· Promouvoir activement un milieu de travail sain, exempt de violence et de harcèlement.
· Faciliter et participer activement aux réunions de sécurité sur les chantiers de construction.
· S'assurer que les comités sur les sites remplissent leurs obligations légales.
· Effectuer des audits sur les sites et rédiger des rapports sur les performances en matière de santé et sécurité, ainsi que sur la planification d'améliorations tactiques et stratégiques.
· Travailler directement avec les responsables des installations et des chantiers de construction pour mettre en œuvre et maintenir des procédures de santé et sécurité concernant l'installation des équipements d'automatisation et des rayonnages.
· Collaborer étroitement avec les métiers mécaniques et électriques chargés de l'installation des équipements d'automatisation et des rayonnages.
· Surveiller, examiner et rendre compte mensuellement des indicateurs/mesures de performance en matière de santé et sécurité.· Effectuer d'autres tâches assignées de temps à autre par l'entreprise.
Qualifications :
Compétences et connaissances :
· Connaissance des lois et réglementations sur la santé et la sécurité au travail provinciales canadiennes, avec une connaissance spécifique des normes de l'Ontario, du Québec, de l'Alberta et de la Colombie-Britannique.
· Plus de 5 ans d'expérience sur de grands chantiers de construction.
· Connaissances avancées en matière de sécurité électrique et de sécurité des machines, y compris les rideaux de lumière, les capteurs, les dispositifs et les protecteurs - OBLIGATOIRE.
· Au moins 5 ans d'expérience en matière de santé et sécurité dans l'industrie de la construction.
· Une certaine familiarité avec les exigences en matière de santé et sécurité fédérales, provinciales et municipales, ainsi que les normes/les meilleures pratiques de l'industrie (par ex. lois, réglementations, codes, normes et jurisprudence).
· Excellentes compétences en communication et en relations interpersonnelles
· Capacité à promouvoir une philosophie solide de sécurité et à mettre en œuvre des programmes visant à changer efficacement les comportements et à prévenir les blessures.
· Capacité à apprendre et à résoudre de manière autonome diverses situations et problèmes difficiles en prenant des décisions opportunes.
· Capacité à voyager à l'échelle nationale et internationale vers différents lieux pour des formations et une exposition aux sites de construction internationaux de Witron.
· Permis de conduire valide et passeport avec possibilité de voyager à l'étranger.
· Compétences en organisation, en relations interpersonnelles, en confidentialité, en techniques d'interrogation, en souci du détail, en résolution de problèmes, axé sur le client, axé sur les processus, compétences de facilitation, MSPowerPoint, MSExcel, MSWord, courrier électronique.
Formation et expérience :
· Le candidat retenu devra être titulaire d'un diplôme en santé et sécurité au travail.
· Être actuellement un professionnel canadien de la sécurité enregistré (CRSP) ou avoir la capacité d'obtenir cette désignation au cours de la première année d'embauche.
· Certification en santé et sécurité.
· Certification nationale d'officier de sécurité de la construction (NCSO), un atout.
