Position:  PLC Project Planning Manager

 

Responsible for planning automated Logistics projects from construction through full operation. Plans electrical circuits for controls integration of automated systems. Oversees software development for project specific machine and conveyor application. Supervises and coordinates electrical installation and commissioning of automated systems. Coordinates Commissioners, Electricians, and Mechanics in modifying, maintaining, and repairing electronics equipment/systems to ensure proper functioning. Coordinates automated system testing and continuous improvement processing with customer and IT counterparts. Assists and trains WITRON and customer personnel in technical machine applications within automated system. Creates procedures and documentation and risk analyses for system installation and equipment setup. Develops and improves automated system operation processes. Supervises all Commissioning employees during installation/operations and repairs. May telecommute from any location in the U.S. 90% domestic and international travel required to manage projects at customer sites. Supervises approximately 15 subordinate positions with titles such as PLC Commissioners, Electricians, and Mechanics.

 

This position requires 5 years of related experience commissioning an automated logistics system and a minimum of 2 years of experience in a leadership role within an industrial, manufacturing, or logistics environment. In the alternative, the company will accept a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Industrial Engineering, Logistics, or a related field and 1 year of related experience within a logistics environment. Must also have 12 months of experience with each of the following: (1) Programming and testing Beckhoff/Siemens PLC automated equipment such as ARS Cranes, Case packing machine, Stretch wrapper, Depalletizers, and conveyor system; (2) Understanding electrical schematics and drawing of automated equipment and associated components (Servo drives, safety circuits, and AC/DC Power circuits); (3) Material flow planning with Autocad and creating procedures and documentation for system installation and equipment setup; (4) Troubleshooting and repairing mechanical/electrical systems; and (5) Training subordinate equipment technicians and equipment operators on all automated equipment. Will accept experience gained concurrently. Candidates must past a drug test before beginning employment. 90% domestic and international travel required to manage projects at customer sites. Salary: $90,000 to $115,000/year. Full-time, telecommuting available from anywhere in US. HQ at 3721 N. Ventura Drive, Suite 140, Arlington Heights, IL 60004.

Job Description:

Qualification:

* Minimum of 3 years experience in managing WIOSS operations

* Minimum of 5 years experience in Management

The Health and Safety Specialist serves as the primary coordinator for the WITRON teams on US Project sites on all matters of health and safety. Coordinating with the Building General Contractor, Construction Supervisor, Project Managers, and Installation Teams, a successful Health and Safety Specialist will work with our internal and external partners to ensure the adherence of the project to the necessary health and safety requirements.

 

Salary Range: $70,000-$100,000k

 

This role requires frequent travel up to 90% to project sites in the United States

 

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Random checks and verifications of the project related documents such as safety training at the construction site.
  • Secondary checks of safety measures in the various construction areas. For WITRON companies and WITRON sub-contractors to make sure all safety measures are always being kept
  • Participate in construction meetings between the customer, Building GC and WITRON personnel.
  • Implement policies and procedures regarding safe working methods, inspection standards and emergency procedures.
  • Assist with construction schedule, incorporating steps to monitor safety regulations
  • Develop and maintain the relationship with the client while ensuring all requirements of client contract are being met
  • Abide by and is responsible for performing all duties in accordance with health and safety regulations and practices pertinent to this position.

 

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of project management, construction and/or industrial automation
  • Knowledge of OH&S Rules and Regulations, workplace compliance safety and construction safety
  • Experience working with a General Contractor and Sub-Contractors (preferably on a large project)
  • Sound judgement, strong leadership skills and the ability to work independently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Project

 

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience working in health & safety, construction management or a related field.
  • Associates or bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Environmental Science or Engineering preferred, High School Diploma or equivalent is required

General Summary:

WITRON is seeking a highly motivated National Health & Safety General Manager to oversee and manage safety programs across all automated warehouse sites in the U.S. This role is vital in ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations, as well as other state, local, and industry-specific standards. The position is responsible for creating and implementing safety training, skill development, and emergency preparedness programs to ensure a safe and compliant work environment for all employees. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of OSHA, ASME, ANSI, and ISO regulations, as well as the ability to implement measures that reduce workplace accidents.

Pay: $90k-120k

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety Program Development & Implementation:
  • Develop, execute, and monitor safety policies, risk assessments, procedures, and programs to prevent accidents and injuries across all warehouse sites, including managing safety for employees working at heights.
  • Safety Training & Emergency Preparedness:
  • Conduct safety training sessions and ensure that all employees are properly educated on safety measures and protocols.
  • Incident Management & Investigation:
  • Investigate workplace incidents to identify root causes and implement preventive measures. Ensure that all accidents are processed, documented, and reported as required by law.
  • Safety Inspections & Audits:
  • Perform regular safety inspections of warehouse sites and serve as the primary liaison for regulatory audits and inspections by OSHA, ASME, ANSI, and other relevant bodies.
  • Construction & Project Safety:
  • Collaborate with the construction management team to design and implement safety policies, programs, and procedures related to construction safety and projects.
  • Critical Incident Management:
  • Lead critical incident management, ensuring proper actions are taken in compliance with legal and safety standards. Serve as the primary point of contact for managing incidents and regulatory inquiries.
  • MHE Training & Oversight:
  • Oversee the training, inspection, and safe operation of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) across all sites.

 

  • Workers Compensation & Loss Control:
  • Manage loss control reviews, workers' compensation claims, and ensure timely reporting and documentation of safety-related incidents.

 

  • Safety Integration Across Sites:
  • Work closely with all warehouse sites to ensure that safety policies are fully integrated into daily operations and business processes.

 

Requirements:

  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience managing safety in operational or functional roles, preferably in warehouse, distribution, logistics, industrial construction, or related environments.
  • Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health & safety or a related field, or equivalent experience in industrial, construction, or automated warehouse safety.
  • Certifications:
  • Heights Rescue Certification is preferred
  • OSHA 30 preferred
  • COSS/COSM Certification preferred
  • Regulatory Knowledge:
  • Strong understanding of OSHA, ASME, ANSI, and ISO regulations, along with manufacturing and construction safety standards.
  • Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of safety principles, accident prevention, and safety equipment.
