WITRON team cycles to the top
Covering 600 kilometers on a racing bike in just four days and cycling a whopping 13,000 meters in altitude - the very thought of such an unbelievable feat is sure to cause many people tremendous muscle soreness and trigger states of exhaustion. But not for nine of our WITRON colleagues who took on this challenge together.
Hubert, Swen, Richard, Uwe, Sebastian, Christian, Josef, Christian and Hermann cycled the highest Alpine peaks in Austria and Italy, starting in Reit im Winkel, over the Dolomites, to Seefeld in Tyrol. They were supported by Rudi, who, as the driver of the support vehicle, took excellent care of the physical well-being of the troop. Thanks to him, the carbohydrate stores were quickly replenished even after the most energy-sapping climbs.
Fantastic weather during the entire trip allowed unique views of impressive mountain panoramas, long valleys and beautiful landscapes. It was all absolutely worth the exhaustion after strenuous climbs.
"Equally unforgettable will surely be the shop talk - over a delicious dinner - about the steepest stretches of road, the most rapid descents or flat tires", Hubert recounts.
Cycling power across the Dolomites: Stages to the goal
Our WITRON colleagues got POWER - and they show it on their bikes, as well. The tour in detail:
Stage 1 | Reit im Winkel via Saalfelden, Zell am See, the Grossglockner High Alpine Road and Heiligenblut to Penzelberg (near Lienz) |
Stage 2 | Penzelberg, continue via Lienz, through the "Three Peaks" nature park, into the Dolomites to Arabba. Here the passes Falzarego, Giau, Valparola and Campalongo had to be mastered |
Stage 3 | Way from Arabba, over the Pordoi, the Sella Joch, Bolzano and Merano to Moos im Passeier |
Stage 4 | Overcoming Timmelsjoch and the Kühtaisattel to get to Seefeld in Tyrol. Finally - as a kind of "finish" - on the Inntal cycle path via Innsbruck to Kufstein and on to Reit im Winkel, back to the starting point of the tour |
